I came to China the first time out of spite, out of stagnancy, out of boredom, and fell into a world of hope, of movement, of excitement. Three months of travel changed my life forever. I came back to China because, well, where else could I go?
Me
I am a creative writing major at Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, NC, where I also work as a member of the landscaping crew. Having grown up with parents who have traveled the world a million times over, I have a deep appreciation for cross-cultural experiences, out-of-the-box adventures, and bizarre food.
The Trip!
Through a partnership with Warren Wilson College I will be attending classes at Liaocheng University in China’s Shandong Province. I will be taking classes in Mandarin and Chinese culture for a period of about three months. After that I hope to either have the opportunity to travel throughout China or work as an English teacher in Liaocheng or some other Chinese city. This is my second trip to China. The first was with a wonderful American company called Where There Be Dragons, which brings high school age and gap year students all over the world. For more information about Dragons click the link below.

The Blog!
The purpose of this blog is three-fold. The first is the fullfillment of the “internship” requirement for creative writing major at Warren Wilson College. The second is to develop my skills in the field of travel writing, and the third is to provide a guide and incentive for students thinking about traveling abroad to give China a try.
If you have any questions please feel free to email me at cbiddle@warren-wilson.edu.

Do you have a new blog? Did you end up back in China after graduating? I just read your entire blog in 2 days and really enjoyed it. I am currently on my 5th term teaching English in China and have lots of spare time on my hands. Thanks again for the wonderful read.
